Sun July 25th - Jimmy Cliff - Hollywood Bowl
With 2 Mets Dodgers games (Fri Night and Sunday afternoon) and a Wedding to Photograph in Downtown LA on Saturday Night - it didn't seem that a Concert was in the works, but thanks to the 30 Shows in 60 days Challenge - Sunday's Reggae Show at the Hollywood Bowl was added to the weekends plans. After a Mets loss at Chavez Ravine - I little dose of Reggae was just what the Dr. ordered. Tarrus Riley got things started and layed down a nice mix of soulful beats and heartfealt cries. When Sly and Robbie and the Taxi Gang took the stage the tone was already set and in case you missed the 1st Act Tarrus re-appeared to lead Act 2 back to the beginning and then set it up for the Finale of the prelude to bigger things. For someone Hovering around 70 a solid voice would be quite the accomplishment, not for Jimmy Cliff. Jimmy had to jump and Jive and snap kicks to make sure everyone was paying attention. There was time enough for Jimmy to play all his Classics - and then some. Rivers of Babylon, Harder they Come, You can get it if you really want it - and we did!
