Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings brought the Soul and Funk to the Wiltern Saturday Night giving an almost packed house a reason to move their feet. Opening for the Dap Kings was a band out of the UK named The Heavy. The Heavy paired nicely with the Headliner as they engaged the crowd and warmed them up with some hard edged Soul and various other styles thrown in. When they launched into their most well known song "How You Like Me Now" the catchy tune that drives the Sock Monkey Kia Commercial the crowd got groovin.
Sharon Jones owned the night though even as she tried to share the spotlight with numerous audience members. Throughout her Set she invited audience members on stage to shake their booty.
The Dap Kings set the table and Sharon served up the Meat and Potatoes - with the Libations flowing Freely there was no need for dessert
Black Francis @ The Mint - 6/25 9:15pm - Black Francis took the stage and jumped right in to a Pixies number, Caribou and set the tone for the evening.
One Guitar, simple arrangements and the Vocals that go from Melodic to Piercing. Reading from a list Black Francis informed the crowd that he would be playing 1 song from every release of his career.
