Had a feeling since there was no opening act publicized the show would start and end early - and sure enough it did - what took some of the zing out of it was the placement of her hit songs - Chuckee's in love was the 1st song of the night and with a brief explanation Miss Jones decided to skip the pomp and circumstance of leaving the stage, only to take the stage minutes later for an encore - and finished her set 90 mins after she started - a whole hour earlier than expected.
While she has earned her spot in Rock Royalty - in the court not the Royal family....... matching a venue with the audible levels needed to hear is something the promoters of the TLDS sometimes gaff on. Ben Lee earlier this year was another example, not every band should play at the decibel levels of Metallica but softspoken Musicians are better suited for theaters or halls or even acoustically enhanced outdoor venues like the Hollywood bowl. The Pier with the rumble of the rollercoaster and talkative boisterous crowds, is not the best place to catch nuances or subtleties of soft spoken artists.
It was still a night out under the stars enjoying live music with friends and defying gravity
