When you start craving the Blues there's only one thing that will cure the Jones, and that's some raw blues music. And the go to source for me is Johnny Mastro and Mamas Boys.....
Now some venues are better than others, to me one of the best, floats down the canals of Long Beach and cruises along as the Band steers us steadily along. Star Party Cruises out of Alamitos Bay Landing provides the Vessel and Johnny and the 'boys provide the Horsepower to drive the Party and keep the crowd dancing.
In a Summer that's been cooler than most Winters here in So Cal, the band caught fire early on and didn't burn out until the boat returned safely to the dock.
I've been following Johnny and the Mamas Boys for about a decade, and this current sound has a relavency that goes way beyond the band and the blues that their music comes from. There's a Raw edge to their sound that lets you know you are seeing live music and it's gritty and soulful and some might even say Spiritual.
